Author Peter Heller Keynotes Literary Awards Luncheon

Journalist, outdoorsman and novelist Peter Heller will be the keynote speaker at the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District’s annual literary awards luncheon on June 7 at the Doubletree Hotel. 

The library support group annually bestows the Golden Quill Award to a local author for outstanding literary achievement. The co-honorees for 2025 are P.J. Anderson and Partick Anderson for ​“Cheyenne Mountain: Here’s Looking at You,“ about a Local landmark often overshadowed by Pikes Peak. This well-researched, heavily illustrated work covers the history of Cheyenne Mountain spanning an era beginning with its geologic period through its recent cultural history 

The Frank Waters Award recipient for 2025 is Peter Heller, recognizing a body of work that ranges from articles for National Geographic Adventure to several best-selling novels, including ​“Dog Stars,” ​“The River” and ​“The Last Ranger.” He has won many accolades, including a Colorado Book Award. His latest novel, ​“Burn, is already receiving accolades.

All will be honored at the Friends’ annual awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 at the Doubletree Hotel, 1775 E.
